Boom Shakalaka: Where Endurance Meets a Party

Ready to turn a regular run into an all-out endurance hangout? Boom Shakalaka is a 6-hour evening-into-night running event designed for runners, walkers, adventurers, and anyone who likes to push their limits and have a blast doing it.

Grab your friends or run solo—this is your race, your pace, your party. Pitch a tent, bring your camp chair, pack your favorite snacks, haul in a cooler… and get ready for six hours of good vibes while you log some miles.

Our 1.31-mile loop course is perfect for stacking laps, cheering each other on, and settling into that sweet “just-one-more-lap” groove. Run 1 lap… or 5… or 10… or 20. Stay for an hour or go the full 6. It’s completely up to you.

Whether you’re chasing a mileage PR, testing your endurance, or just here for the nighttime fun, Boom Shakalaka is built to celebrate your adventure.

How It Works
    •    6 Hours. Evening into night.
    •    Solo or Relay Teams.
    •    1.31-mile loop course.
    •    Do as many laps as you want—your team’s score = total laps completed.
    •    Zero pressure to run the whole six hours (unless you want to!).

Boom Shakalaka: Run hard. Hang out. Repeat.

LIMITED RACE FIELD – ONLY 400 TOTAL RUNNERS!

Q: Do we need to run the entire 6 hours?

A: This is your race, your pace, your vibe.
To officially qualify, all you need is ONE lap—that’s it. After that, it’s wide open. Run a couple laps, crush a bunch, tag in your teammates, take breaks, cheer loudly, snack aggressively… repeat.
Want to call it a day early? No problem at all. Just swing by the finish line, check out with our crew, grab your hard-earned medal, and soak up the Shakalaka glory.
Run as much as you want. Stop when you want.

Q: We have a team, what are the lap exchange rules?

A: Easy. Flexible. Fun.
Each teammate can run as little as ONE lap or stack up as many laps as you want during the event time. Want to rotate often? Go for it. Want to let someone go on a streak? Also totally fine.
You can exchange runners as often as you like, but here’s the one golden rule:
Only ONE runner per team is allowed on the course at a time.
Tag in, tag out, high-five, hydrate, repeat.
Your team. Your strategy. Your Shakalaka.

Q: Is there a space for us to set up a team or solo tent/canopy and hang out while all the running is happening?

A: There’s plenty of space for teams and solo runners to set up camp—so bring your canopy, settle in, and make it home for the day (and night!). This is where you’ll chill, refuel, swap runners, and cheer LOUD for your teammates and everyone crushing laps out on the course.
You’re welcome to bring food and drinks to keep the energy high (heads up: the park does not allow alcohol).
As the sun goes down, things get cozy—and dark—so make sure you bring your own lighting for your tent or canopy. There won’t be electrical outlets available, so battery-powered lights are the move.

Q: Do I need a headlamp or flashlight?

A: Remember, this event starts at sundown so the course will get pretty dark.  Make sure you bring a headlamp or flashlight to use while you’re running.

Rules & Rankings

How rankings work:
Rankings are based on the TOTAL number of fully completed laps finished before the official cutoff time.

  • Your final lap must be completed before the cutoff to count—partial laps won’t make the leaderboard.

On-course rules:

  • All runners must enter and exit the course through the designated exchange area
  • All relay handoffs must happen inside the exchange area—no exceptions
  • Race bibs are required at all times while on the course – Missing bibs may result in team disqualification

Team rules (read this part!):

  • Only ONE runner per team may be on the course at any time – Breaking this rule may result in team disqualification
  • Teams may exchange runners as often as they want
  • There is no minimum or maximum number of laps required for any individual team member

Run smart. Play fair. Bring the energy.
Let’s keep it fast, fun, and Shakalaka-strong
